Mets; Kings Of The Replay! Homerun Daniel Murphy 5-3 Mets
Mets go 5-for-5 in video reviews:
For the fourth time in five games, and the fifth time in the young season, the Mets were the recipients of a beneficial call from instant replay.
Here’s what crew chief Larry Vanover had to say about Daniel Murphy’s two-run homer off the upper-deck facade in right field, which originally was ruled in play:
“First of all, I feel like the system tonight worked the way it was designed to work. I thought it worked well. As far as the individual play itself, I think the key element is that yellow sign that says (Subway), it’s light colored, and the ball slicing and coming down hard and all the sudden the ball disappeared which makes it very, very difficult for us. It was a very difficult call. We took all the information from crew consultation and from the replay and that’s how we came up with our answer. We looked at the replay. You could see the ball does disappear in the sign and it does change direction.”NY Daily News
