It happened Wednesday night after Adam Dunn’s home run onto Sheffield Avenue, when some fans who had baseballs threw theirs back after the ball that landed on the street was tossed back.

“What’s amazing is they beat each other up trying to get these balls during batting practice and they scrape their knees and elbows, and I’ve seen some fistfights out there,” Piniella said. “And all of a sudden they gave them up rather easily.”
