Fox News In Critical Condition In the first quarter of 2008, Fox News was the slowest growing cable news network (10%), behind MSNBC (66%) and CNN (87%). For the first time in six years they finished in 2nd place.(via News Corpse Blog ) UPDATE -9:50AM: BrooklynMutt’s resident FoxNews defender Niko adds:The conclusions are VERY wrong…I pulled 1st Qtr Prime avgs. FOX was up +13% on average audience… while CNN was up +62% and MSNBC was up +55%. But what the story dosn’t say is that FOX still outdrew CNN by +46%, and MSNBC by +132%. NEWSCORPSE only pulled one demo, which grossly slanted their story for their print. I didn’t pull April, but CNN’s growth story has more to do with election news coverage (which is still and indictment on FOX News’s ability to gain the public trust), epecially the Obama-Clinton campaign which interest their viewers more than it would the traditional FOX News viewer.
