Brooklyn Mutt Exclusive: Glenn Beck ranks DEAD LAST!
This is not ranked by ratings, but by the number of people who watched at least 6 minutes or more of a single telecast of their respective programs for the month of January and February of 2010.
As you can see, the most-watched cable news show is Anderson Cooper followed by Larry King on CNN. Bill O’Reilly is THIRD (not first). Hannity ranks 4th, while Olberman and Maddow on MSNBC place 5th and 6th respectively. Among the major players, Glenn Beck ranks DEAD LAST. Why is that?
Well for starters, his audience does not change day in or day out. On average his audience levels are very strong, but his ability to attract a wider audience over the course of time is limited. It simply indicates his “niche” following. Secondly, all the other programs have “repeat” viewing to offer their audiences, Glenn Beck does not. Now it may seem like an unfair comparison at face value, but because Glenn Beck is considered “hit-listed” programming by many advertisers, FOX News can’t afford to air repeat viewings throughout the day and forgo their national advertisers in lieu of what amounts to be bottom feeder ads. That’s not to say he doesn’t provide value to the network, but this should illustrate how way too much credence is given to him in general.
