I want to add to this with some interesting facts that outright support this statement. The following is according to the latest Simmons National Consumer Study, a widely used consumer survey report that is subscribed to by most major media companies.

If you compare the level of education between conservatives and liberals, you will see a great disparity.

-Persons who considered themselves “Conservative” were 10% more likely to have graduated college than the average person. Not bad.. Persons who thought themselves to be “liberal” were +32% more likely to have graduated college, a far more impressive statistic.

-Among graduate students, the disparity is eye-popping. Conservatives were -2% LESS likely to have a graduate degree. That’s not completely horrible. But Liberals were +82% MORE likely to have a graduate degree.

And even when it comes to everyday life, liberals show far more interest in education and advanced learning:

-Conservatives are just +3% more likely to have purchased a book in the last 12 months. Liberals are +32% more likely to have purchased a book.

-Conservatives are are -9% LESS likely to have visited a museum in the last 12 months. Liberals are +65% more likely to have gone to a museum.

These trends are pretty consistent across all activities, including visiting the zoo, visiting the aquarium, interest in art, music and heck… even general social interaction.

Are they simply unhappy?
