“Clinton found out about the Gingrich affair and called Newt over to the White House for a private meeting between the two of them.
Clinton said, ‘You and I are alike.’ Which meant, shut up about Monica or I’ll start telling your story,” Armey said. “Newt and Clinton actually developed sort of a bond over it.
They had many meetings that we didn’t know about where they’d drink wine and smoke cigars and talk about their girlfriends.
It’s fascinating; why would you confess to your mortal enemy what you wouldn’t tell your closest friends?”
Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey claims Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich developed a “bond” over the affairs they had in office, swapping stories over wine and cigars.
Responding to the allegation, Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler said simply, “It’s not true.”

Jon Stewart not only schools Dick Armey on the meaning of tyranny, but he also points out Armey’s ridiculously obvious anti-government hypocrisy.
Jon Stewart: And wait a minute. How are you the messenger for this? You were a congressman for how many years? You were the House Majority Leader and then you became a lobbyist. How are you the messenger?
Dick Armey: Isn’t that a remarkable thing?
Jon Stewart: How did you end up as the messenger for the Tea Party, no government, freedom? This seems very opportunistic.
Dick Armey: This is a remarkable thing. I am a walking, talking miracle. (laughs all around)
Jon Stewart: You’ve seen the light brother. Sorta like that thing: ‘I’ve found Jesus. When did you find Jesus? Right after the cops found me.’
The video above are some of my favorite parts from the interview that went too long for last night’s broadcast. The Daily Show posted the entire interview on their website. Watch it here.
‘93 Hillary Clinton testified in front of Congress concerning the president’s health care reform proposal.
Ex-Rep (R) Dick Armey: “Mrs. Clinton let me also express my appreciation to you for the work you’ve done and your willingness to come before this committee today. And to tell you what a joy it is to see you here. I listened to the chairman’s opening statement and while I don’t share the chairman’s joy at our holding hearings on a government run health care system. I do share his intention to make the debate, a legislative process, as exciting as possible.”
Hillary Clinton: “I’m sure you will do that, Mr. Armey.” [smiling]
Dick Armey: “We’ll do the best we can.” [smiling]
Hillary Clinton: “You and Dr. Kevorkian.” [room filled with laughter]

Love it. back in ‘93 HillDawg takes a bite out of then and now health care reform grim reaper Dick Armey.
Ironically, as part of an effort to obstruct and derail the bill, former GOP Majority Leader Dick Armey launched an online petition called “ReadTheStimulus.org.”
…asked if he supported the unemployment compensation provisions of the bill. Armey said he might, but conceded that he had not read that portion of the bill. (D-MD) Van Hollen then extracted a confession that Armey had not even read the bill at all, even though he was appearing as an expert and repeatedly goes before the press to criticize the stimulus.
