You know, does any serious person, anybody who claims to be a serious person, still credit this argument? Have we not gotten away from the notion that all African Americans are responsible for what any African American does? This is a standard not applied to any other group in this society except, perhaps, Muslims. Are white people, random white people, called to account for what the cast of the Jersey Shore does? Are white people saying, ‘Well, their kids can get over-tan, drink too much, and act ridiculous because of the cast of Jersey Shore?’

In what other area in life is she taking direction from black comics on HBO? So, the notion that they are dictating the culture and that they set the cultural terms, for particularly a conservative is so ridiculous that it is striking to me that a person making that argument is not laughed out of the room.

Michel Martin (NPR) on Dr. Laura’s point that some African American (“comics on HBO”) use the n-word, so why can’t a white person?

Dr. Bigot Laura quotes:

“If you’re gay or lesbian it’s a biological error.”

“Feminism destroyed the sanctity of motherhood.”

Speaking on a 1999 broadcast, Schlessinger talked to a caller concerned about what she should do with her autistic son:
“Denise, I’m going to say something now that you need to hear. You need to have a life aside from this torture…Your son may not be fixable. In which case you’re going to have to think of some kind of placement.”

“One of the first things you do is rename behaviors or what have you. Once you rename it… It’s like in Vietnam, I remember quite clearly. Instead of calling them North Vietnamese, South Vietnamese, Communist or what have you, they started calling the Vietnamese agents gooks. One of the reasons you call them gooks is because it’s easy to kill a gook, harder to kill a person. So in changing the name of the thing, it changes how we perceive it and how we can behave toward it. When we have the word homosexual, we are clarifying the dysfunction, the deviancy, the reality.”

Responding to a fax sent into her show in 1999 that said that pedophilia has nothing to do with sexual orientation, Dr.Laura said: “That is not true. How many letters have I read on the air from gay men who acknowledge that a huge portion of the male homosexual populace is predatory on young boys?”

“When the wife does not focus in on the needs and the feelings, sexually, personally, to make him feel like a man, to make him feel like a success, to make him feel like her hero, he’s very susceptible to the charm of some other woman making him feel what he needs.”

What a shame it is that she’s going off the air.

Yesterday, Dr. Laura Schlessenger shocked her radio show audience when she argued with a black woman about racism and—among other things—said the word “nigger” six times. Today, Schlessenger apologized for her incredibly offensive rant…. AUDIO above and more at Gawker.TV

CALLER: Is it OK to say that word? Is it ever OK to say that word?
DR. LAURA: It depends how it’s said. Black guys talking to each other seem to think it’s ok.
CALLER: But you’re not black, they’re not black, my husband is white.
DR. LAURA: Oh, I see, so a word is restricted to race. Got it. Can’t do much about that.
CALLER: I can’t believe someone like you is on the radio spewing out the n-word, and I hope everybody heard it.
DR. LAURA: I didn’t spew out the n-word!
CALLER: You said “nigger, nigger, nigger,” and I hope everybody heard it.
DR. LAURA: Yes they did, and I’ll say it again: nigger, nigger, nigger is what you hear on HBO.

DR. LAURA: Why don’t you let me finish a sentence? Don’t take things out of context. Don’t NAACP me, leave them in context.
