Colbert on Palin and Beck
On last night’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart once again channeled Glenn Beck to mock the Fox host’s conspiracy theories about George Soros. And if that doesn’t sell you on it, there are puppets!

Princeton University historian Sean Wilentz on Glenn Beck: “Glenn Beck is trying to give [viewers] a version of American history that is supposedly hidden. Supposedly, all we historians — left, right and center — have been doing for the past 100 years is to keep true American history from you. And that true American history is what Glenn Beck is teaching. … It’s a version of history that is beyond skewed. … But of course, that’s what Beck expects us to say. He lives in a kind of Alice in Wonderland world, where if people who actually know the history say what he’s teaching is junk, he says, ‘That’s because you’re trying to hide the truth.’ “

Michael Moore: ‘Glenn Beck & Bill O’Reilly Have Called For Violence Against Me’
While discussing the rancorous tenor of the current political discourse, Moore alleged that both Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly had effectively called for violence against him.
In May of 2005, Mr. Beck said of Mr. Moore:
Hang on, let me just tell you what I’m thinking. I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I’m wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out — is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus — band — Do, and I’ve lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, “Yeah, I’d kill Michael Moore,” and then I’d see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I’d realize, “Oh, you wouldn’t kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn’t choke him to death.” And you know, well, I’m not sure.

Glenn Beck: Evolution Is ‘Ridiculous’
“
When I mentioned Beck’s name to several Fox reporters, personalities and staff members, it reliably elicited either a sigh or an eye roll. Several Fox News journalists have complained that Beck’s antics are embarrassing Fox, that his inflammatory rhetoric makes it difficult for the network to present itself as a legitimate news outlet. Fearful that Beck was becoming the perceived face of Fox News, some network insiders leaked their dissatisfaction in March to The Washington Post’s media critic, Howard Kurtz, a highly unusually breach at a place where complaints of internal strains rarely go public.

“If I could have spoken to Albert Pujols on Saturday, I would have asked him to enter the masses and start asking some questions. In July, Pujols was asked about controversial Arizona immigration law 1070. He said, ” I’m opposed to it. How are you going tell me that, being Hispanic, if you stop me and I don’t have my ID, you’re going to arrest me? That can’t be.” So what happened, Albert? You only disagree with the supporters of this law when you’re not getting an award from them? Pujols knows that this ludicrous piece of legislation could change his life, possibly as soon as the next west coast road trip. I’ve met Albert and know that he is one of the most honorable men in baseball if not all of sports. My guess is he didn’t understand the context of this rally and was pulled in by LaRussa. After hearing from his Hispanic fan base, my guess is he passes on the next offer from Beck.”
