A great interview with Jack Shafer on Reliable Sources about media criticism and having strong journalistic standards.

Is Howie Kurtz actually this dimwitted, or does he just pretend so he can roll around in the dirt with everyone else?
Wild and crazy night? You do realize you are Howard Kurtz, right?

“I’m leaving The Washington Post to become DC bureau chief for the Daily Beast. Great new challenge.”
“Howie Kurtz gets a lot of criticism, but to be fair, he’s always taking on the tough and crucial media issues” - ggreenwald
A Mook
Hey Howie, (WaPo and CNN media critic) you tweet often enough to know this but I’ll drop some common sense knowledge on you anyway. The place on your twitter page that reads “web”, you know, the place where you can add a hyperlink. Well, that is where you link to your column. Not to your twitter page. You see, Howie there really is no need to link to your twitter page in that spot since uuuh people are already there. Common sense lesson over.
Sharon Waxman v. Michael Wolff: the debate over ripping off Web content, on today’s Reliable Sources.
CNN has hired this douche as a contributor to John King’s program. He’s a blogger from RedState.com.
You see this is how CNN plays the game. They try to make believe that they are above the fray, above kowtowing to partisan fights. They won’t hire an “advocate”, they’ll point to their ouster of Lou Dobbs as proof that they are better than Fox News and MSNBC. They claim they just present news and points of views from both sides. Guys like King and Blitzer may not have an overt agenda but they allow all kinds of off base charges to fly around on their programs with little on the spot fact checking. I understand that an on site ombudsman is tough to manage because it would take time to correct all of the nonsense that is spewed. But this hire alone is proof that CNN does the same thing the others do. They just do it with surrogates not with hosts.
“Chris Matthews asks Joan Walsh about Bret Baier constantly interrupting Obama, then interrupts her answer.”
sure Howie no difference, fine comparison :/
The nation is fortunate that CNN and the WP employ a “media critic” to ensure that vital issues like this aren’t ignored. - Glenn Greenwald
CNN’s Howard Kurtz Slams Bill O’Reilly For ‘Unfair Editing’
(via News1News)
Kurtz is usually a huge O’Reilly apologist. I see him often bend over backwards giving O’Reilly the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully Kurtz will smarten up now and finally see O’Reilly for what he truly is; a total sham that pretends to be a public advocate who is just looking out for the little guy or what he calls them “the folks”.
Panelists on this morning’s broadcast of CNN’s Reliable Sources came to an agreement in the murder case of Dr. George Tiller. Host Howard Kurtz insisted that Bill O’Reilly doesn’t share blame in the abortion doctor’s murder. “I think it’s unfair to demonize O’Reilly in this matter, but at the same time, I wish he had denounced the murder of Tiller more forcefully,” said Kurtz.
the panel also discuss Olbermann’s call for a Fox News boycott.
