I was on [t]he phone with a really helpful tech support guy from Apple the other day, it was on a unrelated topic. So, I mentioned to him that my AT&T contract was up, and what would be the best way to go about getting a discount on a iPhone 4, you know, use a contract extension as leverage. And he told me to wait, Apple had hoped to release the iPhone 5 this past June but he thinks a Sept. release is a done deal. 

The iPhone thing doesn’t surprise us … the word that they might subsidize the iPad and sell it for $199 does. That would be huge.

I call BS. Not a single Apple “tech support guy” has any knowledge of the product cycle, let alone future releases. Plus, the calls are recorded, so if one did say this and it was heard by his superior, you can bet he was fired on the spot, regardless of whether it is true or not. If anything, this was an AT&T tech speculating on rumors. 

Ok, since I am “bullshitting” I’ll add a few more details because I loooove elaborate lies that impress absolutely no one.

I originally called to purchase Apple Care for an iPad I bought the day before. Afterwards I asked that same person if I could get some advice on a case/protection for it. I didn’t want the sticky film that I covered my iPhone with and the internet is full of a billion opinions on this. So, I figured why not hear what Apple had to say on this simple matter? Yeah, they’re probably just going to try to sell me something but I was looking to buy, so what the heck.

She told me she’d have to transfer me to someone else and honestly, oops, I mean dishonestly, I don’t remember what department she transferred me to. I yakked away with this really friendly dude and he told me he doesn’t like the film either and yadda, yadda, this case, that case, go to the website there are plenty of things to choose from. And they’ll all do the trick. 

So, then I added the iPhone contract question and he volunteered that info. So, there ya go. Impressive huh? I knew it was. That is why I made it up. It’s the kinda thang I do. Works so well with the ladies.
