Liberal, conservatives may have different brain structures - USAToday

Opposing political views may be linked to differences in brain structures, a new study suggests.

Researchers at University College London found that liberals tend to have a larger anterior cingulate cortex, while conservatives have a larger amygdala. Based on what’s known about the roles of these two areas of the brain, the structural differences are consistent with previous studies that found liberals are better able to cope with conflicting information and are more open to new experiences, while conservatives are better able to recognize a threat and more anxious when faced with uncertainty, according to team leader Ryota Kanai and colleagues.

The study appears online April 7 in the journal Current Biology.

“Have you ever heard of hippie punching?” That prompted a long silence from Axelrod.

“You want us to help you, the first thing I would suggest is enough of the hippie punching,” Madrak [of Crooksandliars] added. “We’re [the liberal blogosphere] the girl you’ll take under the bleachers but you won’t be seen with in the light of day.”

Top Obama adviser David Axelrod got an earful of the liberal blogosphere’s anger at the White House moments ago, when a blogger on a conference call directly called out Axelrod over White House criticism of the left, accusing Axelrod of “hippie punching.”

The White House, constantly under fire from expected enemies on the right, has been frustrated by nightly attacks on cable news shows catering to the left… Just last week, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow described Obama political adviser David Axelrod as a “human pretzel” for his explanation of the administration’s position on gay marriage.

High-res HAHA!! Liberals can’t even get their so-called liberal Prez. to add the public option to health care, come out against off-shore drilling, end the war in Afghanistan, appoint a more outwardly liberal judge than Kagan to replace Stevens, etc. etc. But we are suppose to buy this theory of how they run the media and now, how they tried, in unison, to shut down Fox News. Again, HAHA!

A new study by the Project for Excellence in Journalism finds that health care was a “much bigger topic” for liberal hosts like Keith Olbermann and Ed Schultz than for conservative hosts like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.

In a report to be released on Monday, the organization said it found that the liberal hosts spent 44 percent of their airtime talking about health care from June 2009 to March 2010, while conservative hosts spent 26 percent of their airtime on the subject.
