I’ll tell you what’s happening down there. It’s the revenge of the dinosaurs…. That’s what oil is, except for those of you who still think that evolution didn’t happen. God! You’re looking at it.

Lewis Black, on the Gulf oil disaster

JUAN WILLIAMS: First of all, don’t you think, this spill now is going to be in excess of what happened with Exxon Valdez.

BRIT HUME: Let’s see if that happens. There’s a good question today if you are standing on the Gulf, and that is: Where is the oil?

WILLIAMS: Where is the oil?

HUME: It’s not on — except for little of chunks of it, you’re not even seeing it on the shore yet.

this is the kind of intellect that is on display Sunday mornings at Fox News

Vice President Al Gore in The New Republic on the Gulf Oil spill:

…the illusion that we can meaningfully reduce our dependence on foreign oil by taking extraordinary risks to develop deep reserves in the Outer Continental Shelf is illuminated by the illustration above. The addition to oil company profits may be significant, but the benefits to our national security are trivial.

Gore posts this chart showing U.S. oil consumption. That itsy-bitsy gold sliver at the top of the chart represents how much of oil we use that could be obtained from new drilling off our own shores.

I point you to what [Interior] Secretary Salazar said about — I think the phrase was — at least the phrase I heard earlier in the week with him was to keep the boot on their throat. So I think that kind of sums up in that Western Colorado way how — what we’re trying to convey.

“Look, it was a bad accident but the fact is I think we get one-third of our domestic oil from the Gulf, from offshore drilling in the Gulf. We need it. We can’t cut back on it,”

“If we want to have some onshore drilling we have this thing called ANWR up in Alaska which is right there. There is no waves, no ocean. It’s right there and perfectly easy to drill. A lot of oil there. I’m a drill, baby, drill person,”

These guys who throw the Anti-American label around quite often should really look in the mirror. They advocate for all kinds of policies that hurt America and American citizens. You know the list, wars, environmental policies, their anti-healthcare stance, stripping away privacy rights with programs such as the Patriot Act. etc. etc… I mean where is the love? Oh, I guess if you measure the love that I am speaking of in dollars and cents I guess you can point to taxes. But are they really for tax breaks for average Americans or just the top one percent? I guess what I am asking is; are the Bill Kristol’s of the world just projecting? Are THEY the people who really hate America?
