Jimmy Rollins picks Phils in 5 games, Yankees scoff

Jimmy Rollins: “Of course we’re going to win,  ”If we’re nice we’ll let it go six (games), but I’m thinking five. Close it out at home. I think it would be very tough to take four. You figure one game they’re going to find a way to win, That’s the way it is.”

Jorge Posada: “He’s been Nostradamus, that’s what I heard, He’s been (making) a lot of good predictions, so we’ve got to take that away from him.”

Derek Jeter: “He predicted we’d play them in the World Series about seven years ago, too, You make enough predictions, I guess you’d be right most of the time, right?”

Ryan Howard: “That’s just Jimmy, ”He loves that spotlight. He loves putting that type of - I guess I don’t want to say pressure - but just putting that kind of attention on himself and on our team. Obviously, with those comments, you know here in Yankee Stadium, you know they’re going to be all over him. And you know what? He wants that. He relishes that moment.”

Chase Utley: “I think if this one sticks I think I’ll take him to Vegas with me,”

High-res yes, please lord can’t you please make an exception, just this once, and help my poor little yankees win…please please intervene, make things fair, make things right…

YES, Cablevision reportedly agree to live Yanks streams

News here from the Sports Business Journal of a landmark deal involving the YES Network and Cablevision.

When it kicks in later this season, it will mark the first time a major league team has had its games streamed live on the Internet in its home market.

There will be a fee for this service, which will be open only to Cablevision TV or Internet subscribers. (Cablevision owns Newsday.)

What remains to be seen is whether this opens the floodgates to similar arrangements. - Neil Best

Quinnipiac University conducted a baseball fandom survey of Connecticut. The survey is essentially to see which team, the Yankees or the Red Sox, has more fans in the state of Connecticut and where exactly the lines in the sand are drawn. After losing out to the Red Sox in total fans last year for the first time in the surveys history, the Yankees eaked out a 42-38% victory in 2009 despite losing in five of the eight counties.

High-res Food Subway Series: Mets vs Yanks
…the contest for me was between the improved concessions at Yankee Stadium and the similarly upgraded cooking at Citi Field, where the Mets made their debut last month. Unbeknownst to them, the teams were locked in a subway series in which the doubles that mattered were two-patty burgers and the relevant relief wasn’t from Mariano Rivera but from Tums.
…With their new ballparks this season the Yankees and Mets got new kitchens, new menus and grander ideas about ballpark cuisine, reflecting a nationwide push toward better eating in settings where mere calories were once considered enough.
…I stuck to the (relatively) cheap seats and supped at concessions any fan could approach.
The Yankees rallied to beat the Phillies that day. But on the epicurean front, they lost to the Mets.
